Biology

The term ''tissue'' refers to a group of similar cells. Being a combination of equal cells, a tissue has the same function in any part of the body.

The four types of tissues are:

. The epithelial tissue

. The connective tissue

. Muscle tissue

. The nervous tissue

. The epithelial tissue serves as a cover, among these are the skin and the lining of several ducts inside the body. It is divided into two general classifications: Simple Epithelium and Stratified Epithelium.

. The connective tissue supports and joins other tissues such as bone, blood and lymphatic as well as adipose tissue and reticular tissue.

. Muscle tissue consists of striated or voluntary muscles that move the skeleton and smooth muscle, such as the one that surrounds the stomach. It is divided into three types: Skeletal Muscle Tissue, Cardiac Muscle Tissue and Smooth Muscle Tissue.

. Nervous tissue is formed by nerve cells or neurons and serves to carry messages to and from various parts of the body. This tissue is present mostly in the brains and spinal cord. It has two types of tissue: The Nerve Cell and the Neuroglia.

I am Lyosha [343]

Answer:

For example, the respiratory and circulatory systems work together to provide the body with oxygen and to rid the body of carbon dioxide. The lungs provide a place where oxygen can reach the blood and carbon dioxide can be removed from it. Each of your body systems relies on the others to work well. Your respiratory system relies on your circulatory system to deliver the oxygen it gathers, while the muscles of your heart cannot function without the oxygen they receive from your lungs. ... Your circulatory system delivers oxygen-rich blood to your bones.

Which statement below is correct about the digestive system?
denis23 [38]

The right answer is B) Specialized tissues come together to create the stomach, which is an organ.

* Cells linked to each other form a set called tissue. The cells composing a tissue are not all identical, but they work together to provide a specific function.

* Each organ is a recognizable structure (eg, heart, lungs, liver, eyes, stomach) that provides a specific function. An organ consists of different types of tissues and, therefore, different types of cells.

The stomach is a thoraco-abdominal organ, located in the abdomen and in contact with the chest wall.

The stomach is a dilated segment of the digestive tract located between the esophagus and the duodenum. Its main function is to turn the food bolus into a mixture called gastric chyme.

The stomach is composed of two parts, two sides (anterior and posterior), two edges (small and large curvature) and two orifices (the cardia, upper orifice, and the pylorus, lower orifice).

What do you call the red pigment found in vertebrates that functions in oxygen transport?
slava [35]
There are actually two red pigments found in certain vertebrates that function in oxygen transport (or storage). Hemoglobin is present in the blood of most vertebrates and binds oxygen molecules, in order to transport them to body tissues in need of oxygen for energy (ATP) production.
Myoglobin, mainly in mammals, is a protein (enzyme) found in red (skeletal) muscle cells, that aids in binding oxygen when it's plentiful being delivered via blood. The purpose is that in high stress, low oxygen situations such as strenuous exercise, the myoglobin releases its bound oxygen to provide it to the starving overworked muscle cells.
**Fun fact: it's the hemoglobin that gives the bright red color of blood when it's bound to oxygen, and the myoglobin of mammal flesh gives it the typical pinkish-red hue that is seen in mammalian meat (veal, steak, ham, venison, bison, etc.). Other non-mammalian animals (fish, birds, frogs, snake, alligator, etc.) tend to have lighter-colored skeletal muscle meat due to the lack of myoglobin, amongst other factors.

What is one reason that carbon dioxide is increasing in the atmosphere<br> today? *
pishuonlain [190]

Answer:

Concentrations of carbon dioxides are rising mainly due to energy-burning fossil fuels. Fossil fuels such as carbon or oil include carbon plants which, over the years, are photosynthesized in the atmosphere; in a few hundred years we have returned this carbon to the air

Explanation:

Even fundamental human functions — eating inhalation and digestion — generate CO2. In the life cycles of the earth, it is an essential chemical. Active plants and trees are absorbing CO2 and turning it into food with sunlight and water. There are problems when more CO2 is emitted than is absorbed by our vegetation. Activities to produce high carbon dioxide include:

  • Consuming electricity: Fossil fuels emit CO2, with coal emitting twice as much gas as oil. Worldwide, 85% of energy is generated by fossil fuels. As China and India continue to industrialize, the number of coal-burning plants will rise. Today, power generation represents 41 percent of CO2 emissions in the United States.
  • Transportation: Locomotive is the second greatest source for U.S. CO2 emissions for business or pleasure. Travel is also a factor internationally. A cruise ship study indicated that holidays at sea produce 12 times more CO2 than on land. 41,000 tonnes of CO2 was generated at Denmark's 11-day worldwide Copenhagen Conference on Climate Change. U.S. representatives alone produced sufficient CO2 to fill 10,000 Olympic pools.
  • Building: Manufacturing produces large amounts of CO2, yet only represents 2% of US emissions. The most serious offenders are the manufacture of iron and steel and cement. These businesses use huge amounts of thermal energy to turn commodities into building products.
  • Deforestation: Trees are powerful organisms that absorb CO2 from the air and remove it. It stops the process by cutting them down. While deforestation is a tiny source of increasing CO2 in the U.S., 20 percent of global CO2 emissions are due to forest loss. Fuel-burning trees and natural forest material breakdown also generate CO2.
