Answer: The correct answer for the fill in the blank is - Breaks down food to a thin, watery mixture and absorbs dissolved food with hundreds of villi.

Small intestine is an organ of the digestive system that helps in the final digestion of food that is coming from stomach. It also helps in the absorption of nutrients through villi ( fingerlike projections that are specialized so as to absorb nutrients).

The first part of small intestine receives digestive juices from accessory organs like gallbladder, pancreas, and liver that help in breaking down of food to thin watery mixture that is final digestion of food takes place.

Explain the importance of immunological memory cells. Describe in detail how and when memory cells arise and explain how they fo
Vlad1618 [11]

Explanation:

Immunological memory is the property of the immune system to store information about a stimulus so it can mount an effective response if it encounters the same stimulus again being this second response quicker and stronger even after years since the first encounter.

This kind of response is dependent on many subpopulations within T and B lymphocytes and NK cells. When encountering an antigen, B cells recognize it by membrane antibody specifically binding to the antigen and then being activated to expand rapidly with their progeny clones differentiating into plasma and memory B cells, these last ones have a long life span to remain in the body, ready when another encounter with the same stimulus occurs, this is how the basis for effective immunizations happens.

I hope you find this information useful! Good luck!

aliya0001 [1]

Answer: C) the genes of this phage were made of DNA.

Explanation: the experiment described above wherein a radioactively labeled bacteriophage was allowed to infect bacteria ultimately led to the conclusion that the genes of the bacteriophage under study were made of DNA (a biopolymer of deoxyribonucleic acid, which is a type of nucleic acid composed of four different chemical groups, called bases: adenine, guanine, cytosine and thymine). Simply put, the experiment shows that the genetic material of the phage is DNA.
