nucleic acids Look for nucleotides made up of a five-carbon sugar, a phosphate group, and a nitrogenous base. DNA vs RNA. DNA contains phosphate, deoxyribose sugar, and adenine, guanine, cytosine, and thymine. RNA contains phosphate, ribose sugar, and adenine, guanine, cytosine, and uracil.

ATP molecule (C10H16N5O13P3) and ADP molecule (C10H16N5O13P2) are macromolecules containing phosphorus.
