The political system that european countries set up that caused conflicts in the middle east is protectorates.
Protectorates is a political system that is controlled and protected by another.  Most of the time, protectorate political system is used in weak territories, or the protectorates to be controlled by stronger territories, which in this case was Europe.  Middle East didn't welcome this fact and political system leading to conflict.
