In order to add these fractions, you must make sure that the denominators are the same. Since one of the denom. is 4 and the other is 2, we can just multiply the fraction of 41/2 by 2. Remember to multiply top and bottom.

41/2 * 2/2 = 82/4  Now that the denom. are 4 you may now add the numerators.

82/4 + 31/4 = 113/4  if you are asked to give it as a mixed fraction then it will be  28 1/4

hope this helps

Find ten solutions to the linear equation to the linear equation 1/2x+y=5
yuradex [85]

Answer:

(0,5), (2,4), (4,3), (6,2), (8,1), (10,0), (12,-1), (14,-2), (16,-3), (18,-4), and (20,-5)

Step-by-step explanation:

The given linear equation is :

\frac{1}{2} x + y = 5

Or

y =  -  \frac{1}{2} x + 5

Any ordered pair that satisfies this equation is a solution.

When x=0,

y =  -  \frac{1}{2}  \times 0 + 5 = 5

(0,5) is a solution

When x=2,

y =  -  \frac{1}{2}  \times 2+ 5 = 4

(2,4) is a solution.

When x=4,

y =  -  \frac{1}{2}  \times 4+ 5 = 3

(4,3) is a solution;

When x=6:

y =  -  \frac{1}{2} \times 6+ 5 = 2

(6,2).

When x=8,

y =  -  \frac{1}{2}  \times 8 + 5 = 1

Another solution is (8,1)

When x=10,

y =  -  \frac{1}{2}  \times 10 + 5 = 0

(5,0) is a solution

When x=12,

y =  -  \frac{1}{2}  \times 12+ 5 =  - 1

(12,-1) is a solution.

When x=14,

y =  -  \frac{1}{2}  \times 14+ 5 =  - 2

When x=16, we get:

y =  -  \frac{1}{2}  \times 16 + 5 =  - 3

When x=18, we get:

y =  -  \frac{1}{2}  \times 18+ 5 =  - 4

The largest possible fair dice is a disdyakis triacontahedron, which has 120 sides. What is the expected value, E(X), of rolling
Luden [163]

Assuming that the 120 faces have all numbers from 1 to 120 printed on them, we have a dice that can output all numbers between 1 and 120 with the same probability of 1/120.

So, the expected value is

\displaystyle \sum_{i=1}^{120}i\cdot p(i) = \sum_{i=1}^{120}i\cdot \dfrac{1}{120}=\dfrac{1}{120}\sum_{i=1}^{120}i=\dfrac{1}{120}\dfrac{120\cdot 121}{2}=\dfrac{121}{2}=60.5

-1\2x+1y=3/4, y-2x=3 , do I divide all the  fractions by 4 to get rid of the fraction  or by 2?
Law Incorporation [45]
You <em>multiply</em> both sides of the first equation by  4.
Then you have . . .
                            -2x + 4y  =  3     and     y - 2x  = 3 .

If you want to get rid of a fraction, you multiply it by itsdenominator.
BUT ... whatever you do to one term on one side of the equation, you
have to do the same to <em>all</em> the terms on that side, AND then you have to
do the same thing to all the termson the OTHER side.
