How to solve for a, b,

Mathematics

It looks like the length of a and b should be the same. You can use the Pythagorean theorem (only works with right triangles):

a² + b² = c² (c is the hypotenuse or the longest side of the triangle, a and b are the other side lengths of the triangle)

a² + (4)² = (5)²

a² + 16 = 25

a² = 9

a = 3

a and b have a length of 3

PT = 3x+4 and TQ =5x-6
allochka39001 [22]

Answer:

So if PT=TQ and TQ=7x-9

PT=5x+3=TQ=7x-9

5x+3=7x-9

minus 5x both sides

3=2x-9

add 9 both sides

12=2x

divide 2

6=x

PT=5x+3

PT=5(6)+3

PT=30+3

PT=33

PT=QT=33

x=6

Let X and Y be random variables with the following joint moment generating function: M_{X,Y}(s,t)=0.1+0.2e^s+0.3e^t+0.4e^{s+t}
MA_775_DIABLO [31]

We obtain the joint PMF directly from the joint MGF:

M_{X,Y}(s,t)=0.1+0.2e^s+0.3e^t+0.4e^{s+t}

\implies\mathrm{Pr}[X=x,Y=y]=\begin{cases}0.1&\text{for }x=y=0\\0.2&\text{for }x=1,y=0\\0.3&\text{for }x=0,y=1\\0.4&\text{for }x=y=1\\0&\text{otherwise}\end{cases}

Then

\mathrm{Pr}[X=Y]=\mathrm{Pr}[X=Y=0]+\mathrm{Pr}[X=Y=1]=0.1+0.4=\boxed{0.5}
