Suppose interstate highways join the six towns A, B, C, D,E,F as follows: 1-77 goes from B through A to 1-82 goes from C through

D then through B to F: 1-85 goes from D through A to F; 1-90 goes from C through E to F and 1-91 goes from D to E.
a) Draw a graph of the network with vertices for towns and edges for segments of interstates linking neighboring towns. b) What is the minimum number of edges whose removal prevents travel between some pair of towns?
c) Is it possible to take a trip starting from town C that goes to every town without using any interstate highway for more than one edge (the trip need not return to C?

A country is considering raising the speed limit on a road because they claim that the mean speed of vehicles is greater than 30
kondaur [170]

Answer:

We conclude that speed is greater than 30 miles per hour.

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given the following in the question:

Population mean, μ =  30 miles per hour

Sample mean, \bar{x} = 35 miles per hour

Sample size, n = 15

Alpha, α = 0.01

Sample standard deviation, s = 4.7 miles per hour

First, we design the null and the alternate hypothesis

H_{0}: \mu = 30\text{ miles per hour}\\H_A: \mu > 30\text{ miles per hour}

We use one-tailed(right) t test to perform this hypothesis.

Formula:

t_{stat} = \displaystyle\frac{\bar{x} - \mu}{\frac{s}{\sqrt{n}} }

Putting all the values, we have

t_{stat} = \displaystyle\frac{35 - 30}{\frac{4.7}{\sqrt{15}} } = 4.120

Now, t_{critical} \text{ at 0.01 level of significance, 14 degree of freedom } = 2.624

Since,

t_{stat} > t_{critical}

We fail to accept the null hypothesis and reject it. We accept the alternate hypothesis and conclude that speed is greater than 30 miles per hour.

We calculate the p-value.

P-value = 0.00052

Since p value is lower than the significance level, we reject the null hypothesis and accept the alternate hypothesis. We conclude that speed is greater than 30 miles per hour.

a washer and dryer cost $586 combined. the washer costs $64 less than the dryer. what is the cost of the dryer?
oksano4ka [1.4K]
Hello!

*I'm not very good at algebra, so I am not 100% sure this is correct!*

w = cost of washer

d = cost of dryer

w + d = $586

w = d - 64

d - 64 + d = 586

2d = 586 + 64

2d = 650

d = 650 / 2 = 325

586 - 325 = 261

Check 325 - 261 = 64

So, the dryer costs $325 and because the washer is $64 less than the dryer, it costs $261.
