Answer:

This might exceed the spending of management which is against the corporate objective which is to maximize the profits of the shareholders. Furthermore the objective of making the budget is controlling the cost by delivering the responsibilities to lower management. When the managers build slack into their budgets they are actually moving away from the primary objective of making the budget. This is an ethical issue of not manipulation of facts for personal benefits and is considered unethical. The managers will also under-perform because they know the budget is not accurate and the target is easily achievable. Furthermore the cost will also exceed from the achievable level which is again in not in the best interest of the shareholders. The market share of the products might drop because the sales manager is under-performing. The products quality will also drop significantly which will make it harder for the sales manager to achieve the set targets.

Transaction                       Assets            Liabilities        Stockholders' Equity

Issue common stock           Increase               NE                      Increase

Issue preferred stock         Increase               NE                      Increase  Purchase treasury stock     Decrease             NE                       Decrease

Sale of treasury stock         Increase              NE                        Increase  Declare cash dividend            NE                   Increase                   NE

Pay cash dividend               Decrease            Decrease NE

100% stock dividend              NE                        NE                      NE

2-for-1 stock split                    NE                       NE                         NE

When shares are sold or issued, they increase the stockholders equity as people buy these shares. They also increase assets because cash comes into the company when the shares are sold. This is why the Issuing of preference and common stock as well as the sale of Treasury shares had the same effects.

When cash dividends are declared, they become a liability that is owed to equity holders.

When these dividends are then paid, they remove the liability but reduce assets as cash is used to pay the dividends.

100% stock dividend reduces retained earnings but increases equity so stockholders equity does not change.

If an economy consumes 68 percent of any increase in disposable income, then an increase in autonomous investment of $1 billion
madreJ [45]

Answer: The answer is $3,125,000,000

Explanation:

Since autonomous investment is government investment in the economy

68% of the increase in disposable income was consumed

Using the equation

Since Y = yd , spending in the economy is represented by

Equation C = 0.68yd, investment = $1,000,000,000

Y = C + I

Y = 0.68Y + 1,000,000,000

Y - 0.68 = 1,000,000,000

Factor out the variable Y

Y ( 1 - 0.68) = 1,000,000,000

0.32Y = 1,000,000,000

Divide both sides by 0.32

0.32Y/ 0.32 = 1,000,000,000 / 0.32

Y = 3,125,000,000

Therefore the increase in total spending will be $3,125,000,000
