Answer:

Pizza Hut's recent offering of six styles of pizza is a product expansion strategy aimed at increasing sales ans profit.

Explanation:

Pizza Hut's primary intention to expand its product line or add new features is to increase its sales and profits.

When a business employs a product expansion strategy, also known as product development, they increase their sales within the existing market as a result of providing variety .

A product expansion growth strategy often works well when the business dynamics starts to change making a proactive company to add new products as the marginal utility of older ones starts to decline.

In the long run, product expansion offer opportunities for greater overall profitability and keeps potential or current investors interested in the company.

Answer:

Because Pizza Hut is operating in a monopolistic competitive market.

Explanation:

A monopolistic competitive market is one in which different sellers are selling variations of the same product which are not substitutes.

To stand out and survive , the sellers need to constantly differentiate or evolve their product by producing new styles

Back in 1958 when Pizza Hut opened its door for business, the product 'pizza' was relatively new and was in hot demand.

However as the years rolled by, many more businesses entered into the pizza-making industry causing stiff competition.

As the product remained unchanged, companies like Pizza Huts started making variations to the make up and composition of their pizza to set them apart from others. Hence they started evolving by making pizza styles like the Stuffed crust pizza, hand-tossed pizza etc. The new styles brought them profit in the short term.

2) However because a monopolistic competitive market is an open market with free entry and exist, other pizza making companies started innovating and producing similar new styles introducing competition again. The competition swallowed up the little profit margin hence over time the strategy of producing  differentiated product  and not an entirely new product is not profitable on the long run

1. I

Eric's employer upgrades all of its computer systems using U.S.-made parts.

2. C

Ginny gets a new refrigerator made in the United States.

3. X

Ginny's father in Sweden orders a bottle of Vermont maple syrup from the producer's website.

4. G

The state of Pennsylvania repaves highway PA 320, which goes through the center of Swarthmore.

5. M

Eric buys a bottle of Italian wine.

Explanation:

The US Gross Domestic Product (GDP) can be measured using the expenditure approach: Y = C + I + G + (X – M).  This expenditure approach calculates GDP by evaluating the sum of all final goods and services purchased in the US economy.  The components of the US GDP identified as “Y” in equation form include Consumption (C), Investment (I), Government Spending (G), and Net Exports (X – M) with X as exports and M as imports.

Answer:

A. The final objective function value will change by the size of the change times the final value of the decision variable related to this objective coefficient.

Explanation:

By modifying the one coefficient of the objective with the rise or decrease in the permitted modify the amount of the objective function i.e. final. Also the magnitude of modifying the value would be equivalent to the modify of the change in terms of coefficient times the final value with respect to the decision variable that is interrelated to the coefficient of the objective

hence, the correct option is a.

1. A new furnace for your small factory will cost $27,000 to install and will require ongoing maintenance expenditures of $1,500
Marina CMI [18]

Answer:

payback 3.29 years

NPV 87,158.55

Explanation:

PO 27,000

<u>Cash flow saving Y1 </u>

2400 x 3.5 = 8,400

expenditures (1,500)

net savings   6,900

<u>Cash flow saving Y2 </u>

The price will increase 0.5

6,900 + 2,400 x 0.5 = 8,100

<u>Cash flow saving Y3 to Y20</u>

The price will increase 0.5

8,100 + 2,400 x 0.5 = 9,300

We have an annuity of 18 years for 9,300 cash

And then we have a cash flow of 6,900

and another of 8,100

C \times \frac{1-(1+r)^{-time} }{rate} = PV\\

C = 9,300

r = 8%

time = 18

9,300 \times \frac{1-(1+0.08)^{-18} }{0.08} = PV\\

PV =  87,158.55

Now this values are years into the future, so we need to bring them to present day.

\frac{Principal}{(1 + rate)^{time} } = PV

year 1 principal 6,900

6,900/1.08 = 6,388.89

year 2 principal 8,100

\frac{8,100}{(1 + 0.08)^{2} } = PV

PV= 5,915.64

year 3 annuity 87,158.55

\frac{87,158.55}{(1 + 0.08)^{3} } = PV

PV= 69,189.27

cash flow - investment = net present value

69,189.27 + 5,915.64 + 6,388.89 - 27,000 = 54,493.8

The payback will be the time perdion when the project recovers it initial cost:

we first add the income from the irregular years and subtract from the investment

6,900 + 8,100 = 15,000

27,000 - 15,000 = 12,000

then we use the general formula investment/cash flow per year

12,000/9,300 = 1.29

the project need the first two years and then 1.29 years

2 + 1.29 = 3.29 years
