Are the triangles similar? If so, find x. Please help

Mathematics

Answer:

Yes.

Step-by-step explanation:

Because sides are parallel, corresponding angles are congruent (angle W = angle V and angle U = angle T). By the third angle theorem (or you can use the reflexive property if that's easier), angle S = angle S. To determine triangles as similar, all angles must be congruent, and all sides must be equally proportional. This is true here because all of the angles are equal, so all of the sides must be proportional (I don't remember the theorem here)

To get the answer of x, use the proportional formula (UW/TV = US/TS). So (12/3)=(9/x), 4 = 9/x, 4x = 9, x = 9/4.

two ways

Step-by-step explanation:

there are two ways to do this

640/4 =160

take 160x16 = 2,560

OR

640x4 = 2,560

4 because 4x4 = 16

How do you do congruence and transformations
defon
I love this unit a-lot (super fun)

So Congruent/Congruence is, For example If you have two triangles on a coordinates grid with the same coordinates than that would mean they're congruent. Shortened down would be

Same shape same coordinates same dimension same size (same everything)

Transformations would be Rotating a shape clockwise(CW)...right) or counterclockwise(CC Left)

Or Dilation which is making the shape smaller or bigger based on a scale factor.

Or reflection

How you would perform Reflection is reflect the shape over either the X-axis
Or the Y-axis

How you would perform a Translation would be to literally move the shape right left up or down.

How you would perform a Dilation(scaling) would be to pick a scale factor and either decrease or increase the size of the shape according to the scale factor number

How you would perform a Rotation would be to pick a point of rotation (P.O.R) and then pick your measure º such as 90º clockwise and rotate accordingly.

Hope it helps :)
