g Determine which of the statements about p53 are true. p53 mutations most often occur in residues not involved in DNA binding.

Active p53 increases the risk of most forms of cancer. Active p53 enhances transcription of genes that promote apoptosis. p53 activity increases upon phosphorylation by a kinase. Active p53 enhances transcription of a gene for a protein involved in DNA repair.

Answer:

  • Active p53 enhances transcription of genes that promote apoptosis.
  • Active p53 enhances transcription of a gene for a protein involved in DNA repair.

Explanation:

P53 is a protein known as a tumor protein. This name is given to this protein because of its ability to act in the cell cycle, preventing malignant tumors, which cause cancer to develop.

This occurs through the main function of P53, which is to improve the transcription of genes that can interrupt cell growth by preventing the cell cycle, repairing DNA by preventing damaged DNA from being replicated, or even by allowing a phenomenon called apoptosis to occur ( cell death). Apoptosis occurs only if the interruption of cell growth and the repair of damaged DNA has not been successful.

Which of the following continents was not covered by ice during the Pleistocene ice age?
s2008m [1.1K]
I think the correct answer from the choices listed above is option C. The continent that was not covered by ice during the Pleistocene ice age. This is because the southern location of this nation made it much harder for ice to form, even during this time. Hope this answers the question.
