First thing to do here is to factor out the common 5x. When you do that you end up with this: 5x( x^{2} +2x-3). It's easy enough now to factor the second degree polynomial inside the parenthesis. The 2 numbers that add up to be 2 and multiply to be -3 are x = 1 and x = -3. But we also have to consider the fact that 5x = 0 and x = 0. This is a third degree polynomial, after all, so we need to find 3 solutions. Here they all are: x = -3, 0, 1

if a car traveling at 100 m/s must slam on the brakes to avoid hitting a raccoon and it takes 4 seconds for the car to slow down
rusak2 [61]

1.)

Velocity is in m/s, and acceleration is in m/s^2 like you said. Because of this, we can calculate this by dividing the speed by the time it took to get to that speed.

(20 meters/second) / 10 seconds = 2 meters/ second^2

2.)

Same thing with the first one.

(100 meters/second) / 4 seconds = 25 meters / seconds^2

saw5 [17]

Answer:

Alejandro went to 8 matinee shows and 4 evening shows.

Our system of equations:

x + y = 12

7x + 12y = 104

Correct statement and question:

Alejandro loves to go to the movies. He goes both at night and during the day. The cost of a matinee is 7 dollars. The cost of an evening show is 12 dollars.

Alejandro went to see a total of 12 movies and spent $ 104. How many of each type of movie did he attend? Write a system of equations.

Source:

Previous question that can be found at brainly

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1:

Let x to represent the number of matinee shows Alejandro went to.

Let y to represent the number of evening shows Alejandro went to.

Now, let's write our system of equations:

x + y = 12

7x + 12y = 104

*********************

x = 12 - y

*********************

7 (12 - y) + 12y = 104

84 - 7y + 12y = 104

5y = 104 - 84

5y = 20

y = 20/5

y = 4 ⇒ x = 12 - 4 = 8

Alejandro went to 8 matinee shows and 4 evening shows.
