Paleomagnetism is the science of studying the magnetic properties of rocks, sediments, and artifacts which developed in the rocks due to the power and orientation of the earth’s magnetic field while the rocks, sediments and artifacts were being formed. By studying the rocks and sediments scientists can determine when the history of earth’s magnetic field reversed.
