The Treaty of Versailles caused long-term instability in Europe (and parts of Asia) by ignoring the nations who had lost WWI. The treaty didn't provide any support for the nations who had lost, creating resentment in the hearts' of their people. This disunity allowed for the rise of facist dictators post-WWI, eventually causing World War II.

During his election, _________ did not receive enough votes from the Electoral College.
Strike441 [17]
Okay, the other answer is wrong. The Electoral College's votes are what decide if you can be president or not. So people who actually became president (like Lincoln) did recieve enough votes from the Electoral College. However, during his own election, Al Gore didn't get enough votes from the Electoral College in the Presidential Election in 2000. That's why he lost the election, even though his popular vote was higher.
Hope this helps!

Burka [1]

The RMS Lusitania was a ship that sailed from New York and had American civilians in - at that point the US was neutral in the WWI -, when the ship came to the sight of the Irish Coast the German U-boat attacked it.

Despite the fact that Americans were horrified at the Lusitania attack, many Americans did not like the idea to enter the war, Irish Americans did not enjoy the idea of helping Britain because the country denied Ireland its independence, German Americans were sympathetic towards their ancestral homeland and Americans saw no reason to enter into a war between European powers. The US only entered war two and a half years after it started.
