Answer and Explanation: Religious communities were important forces in the emerging European civilization because the Church was a significant centre of social and political life. Monasteries were places of preservation of ancient documents and they provided education as well as health services. Popes had not only religious but also political power. This is why religion and developing civilizations were conected.
