Here the figure is sum of a square and a right angled triangle.

We know that square has equal four sides. Here the length of the side of square = 10 inch.

We know that formula to find area of a square is a^2, where a is the side of the square.

By substituting the value of a in the formula we will get,

The area of the square = (10)^2 = 100 square inches.

Now we have the right angled triangle.

To find the base of the triangle we will subtract 6 from the side length of the square.

So base of the triangle = (10-6) = 4 inches.

To get height of the triangle we will subtract the side length of the square from 16. We will get,

(16-10) = 6 inches.

Now we know that the formula to find the area of the triangle = \frac{1}{2} bh, where b is the base and h is the height.

Here we have b = 4 inches and h = 6 inches.

The area of the triangle

= \frac{1}{2}(4)(6)

= \frac{1}{2}(24)

= 12

So area of the triangle = 12 square inches.

Now total area of the figure is sum of area of the square and area of the triangle.

Total area = (100+12) square inches = 112 square inches.

We have got the required answer.

The total area of the figure = 112 square inches.

If trap is an isosceles trapezoid, what is the value of x
Burka [1]

Answer:

Option E ⇒  x = 19

Step-by-step explanation:

See the attached figure.

TRAP is an isosceles trapezoid

The shown angles are supplementary angles

So, the sum of (5x+9) and (4x) is 180

So, 5x+9 + 4x = 180

solve for x

9x + 9 = 180

9x = 180-9 = 171

x = 171/9 = 19

The answer is option E

How do I do this. Due tomorrow
kolbaska11 [484]
I prefer D.

It's clear that Kevin took (1/4)x.
Keith took (1/4)x -> kevin's amount
                 * 2      -> twice.
                 -1       -> 1 less.

So Kevin + Keith = (1/4)x + (1/4)x * 2 - 1 = (3/4)x - 1.
