    A great drought around 1750 BC a terrible drought struck Palestine (Canaan) and the Hebrews were forced to look for a better place to survive, so they went to Egypt. By settling in Egypt, the Hebrews were able to prosper but the Egyptian pharaohs persecuted them and enslaved them. In 1250 BC the Hebrews left Egypt led by Moses to return to Palestine.
