In an era where we are all connected and can view all of the world's events through the news, we come to understand and draw upon opinions that could affect the laws in place. In 1990, Congress passes the Gun-Free School Zone Act, or GFSZA for short, to reduce violence on a national level. However, this sparked debates on whether or not such a umbrella law would impede on individual state's law making rights. Congress, however, has the power to create general laws (as such as the GFSZA) that is aimed at protecting students and teachers a like. The GFSZA is the step in the right direction in guaranteeing such safety, and with adequate funding for the protection of students, it can lead to a secure place for people to learn.
