One of the things that was happening that a constantly increasing number of people were dissatisfied with the Church because it became very corrupt, brutal, and moved away from the core teachings of the Christianity. This led to the formation of the Protestant Movement, which quickly escalated and the Church got divided, with the new Protestant Movement creating its own churches and teachings, while the Catholic Church lot of its followers, territory, and power. Unfortunately this also led to persecutions and lot of violence.
The other areas to greatly impact Japan were the regions of Korea, which was the closest culture to Japan and therefore the main point of contact between Japan and Asia.
