Roger Sherman was a Founding Father of the United States of America. He was a lawyer and one of the earliest American statesman. He was in the signing of the great papers of the United States which include the Constitution, Declaration of Independence, Continental association and Articles of confederation.

Sherman's most notable contribution to the drafting of the constitution was in 1787 when he represented Connecticut at the constitutional convention. There he played a key role by introducing the Connecticut compromise, also known as the Great compromise. This established a bicameral legislature made up of the Senate and the House of representatives.
