We are given the parabolic equation
(x - 2)² = 10 (y - 3)
The general formula for the parabolic equation is
(x - h)² = 4a (y - k)
where a is the length of the focus
So,
4a = 10
a = 10/4
a = 2.5

The focus is 2.5

Answer:

(2, 5.5)

Step-by-step explanation:

The standard form of parabola is :

(x - h)^2 = 4p (y - k) ---1

where the focus is (h, k + p)

Now we are Fabio is designing a flashlight that uses a parabolic reflecting mirror and a light source.The shape of the mirror can be modeled by: (x-2)^2=10(y-3)

Now compare it with 1

h = 2

k=3

4p=10

p=\frac{10}{4} =2.5

Now Focus  is (h, k + p)

So, the focus of the flash light = (2,3+2.5)

                                                   = (2,5.5)

Hence  the focus of the flashlight is  (2, 5.5)

Blizzard [7]

Answer:

The narrative in the question can not be described as a function

Step-by-step explanation:

For the purpose of clarity, we will rephrase the question. The key point in the question  is to determine if the price and the model are related and if they fit into independent and dependent function.

Moving forward, to properly answer this question, it will be good for us to understand what dependent and independent functions are.

DEPENDENT FUNCTIONS: These are functions or can also be refereed to as variable that represents quantities or values whose parameter depends on how the independent variable is manipulated.

Example:

You are doing job to earn your a salary. For each project you do, you earn $10 dollar. In this case, the dependent variable is the amount of money you earn because the amount of money you earn depends on how many job or project you do.

INDEPENDENT FUNCTIONS: These are functions or can also be refereed to as variable that we have control over in the process of an event therefore, we are at liberty to manipulate it as we so wish as indicated in the dependent variable.

Going back to the narrative of the question, the narrative in the question can not be described as a function because the two identifies variables which are the price and the model years are been altered due to the fact that it is a used car lot so they have both lost their true value or worth. However, some might argue that price here is the independent function or variable while model year is the dependent variable.

A florist has to choose four different types of flowers to include in a bouquet. In how many ways can the florist do this, if th
Nat2105 [25]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Type of Flowers = 5

To choose = 4

Required

Number of ways 4 can be chosen

The first flower can be chosen in 5 ways

The second flower can be chosen in 4 ways

The third flower can be chosen in 3 ways

The fourth flower can be chosen in 2 ways

Total Number of Selection = 5 * 4 * 3 * 2

Total Number of Selection = 120 ways;

Alternatively, this can be solved using concept of Permutation;

Given that 4 flowers to be chosen from 5,

then n = 5 and r = 4

Such that

nPr = \frac{n!}{(n - r)!}

Substitute 5 for n and 4 for r

5P4 = \frac{5!}{(5 - 4)!}

5P4 = \frac{5!}{1!}

5P4 = \frac{5*4*3*2*1}{1}

5P4 = \frac{120}{1}

5P4 = 120

Hence, the number of ways the florist can chose 4 flowers from 5 is 120 ways

Help? pls?? I've got the first part, just need a lil help
OlgaM077 [116]

Find the time it will take:

195 miles / 50 miles per hour = 3.9 hours.

1 hour = 60 minutes:

0.9 hours x 60 = 54 minutes.

3.9 hours = 3 hours and 54 minutes.

Add 3 hours and 54 minutes to the time it leaves:

3:30 pm + 3 hours = 6:30 PM

6:30 + 54 minutes = 7:24 PM
