Answer:

He is wealthy enough to live in West Egg but not wealthy enough to rent a very nice place.

Explanation:

F. Scott Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby," tells the story of Jay Gatsby and his unfulfilled dreams of trying to win back his former love which is the main and only purpose of his life. The story also deals with the theme of an American dream, the various obstacles that one encounters in life, and the evident social status that one maintains or tries to maintain to be "agreeable" for others.

In the given excerpt from the text, Nick, our narrator, describes his home. He agrees that his house at West Egg <em>"is an eyesore but it was a small eyesore"</em>. This seems to suggest that it was an eyesore for those living in East Egg but not that much as compared to the other houses in West Egg. This shows that <u>he is wealthy enough to live in a much better house than the others but at the same time, not wealthy enough to be able to reside in the "upper-class" East Egg side. </u>

Which is a fused sentence?
skelet666 [1.2K]

The option C is a fused sentence, because its connecting two "parts", "clauses" or "phrases" without being separated from punctuation or other connectives, that should make it a proper sentence. Therefore, we could make various types of changes to turn this fused sentence into a correct sentence:

  •   Addition of a semi-colon (;)

<em>My dad doesn't have a hobby; He is too busy working.</em>

  • Using a subordinate conjunction

<em>My dad doesn't have a hobby because he is too busy working.</em>

  •     Separating definitely the clauses:

<em>My dad doesn't have a hobby because he is too busy working.</em>
