A reason that the National Popular Vote, Inc. And others criticize the electoral vote system is D-Because they believe that elections should be determined by the popular vote.

The National Popular Vote, Inc wants to do away with the indirect method of voting through the Electoral College. The reason for this is that the College system may end up causing  that eventually, the winner of the election is the candidate who lost the popular vote. As it was the case in the 2000 and 2016 elections.
