By 1860, then, war was inevitable. Naturally, the conflict would at once present intricate military problems, and among them the

retention of the Pacific Coast was of the deepest concern to the Union. Situated at a distance of nearly two thousand miles from the Missouri River which was then the nation's western frontier, this intervening space comprised trackless plains, almost impenetrable ranges of snow-capped mountains, and parched alkali deserts. And besides these barriers of nature which lay between the West coast and the settled eastern half of the country, there were many fierce tribes of savages who were usually on the alert to oppose the movements of the white race through their dominions.
In this excerpt from "The Pony Express" chapter one, the physical description of the land between the Pacific Coast and the Missouri River tells the reader the area was

A. picturesque and lovely to see

B. dangerous and difficult to travel

C. interesting and fascinating to study

D. confusing and difficult to understand

Could someone help come up with an idea about an essay that involves a bunch of people being held captive and surrounded by a fo
galben [10]
I'm not good with Grammar. But, I like writing fictional stories. Here you can use one of mine if you want. This is the idea: Lien, Jeffrey, Alejandro and Lola go to a field trip to a science museum. Once inside Lola the most troublesome of them 4 accidentally overhears a conversation where 2 scientist are plotting to build an underwater city because Armageddon was near. After hearing this she tells her 3 friends Lien, Alejandro and Jeffrey.  However they don't believe her. So what Lola does is that she alone follows the scientist around and she uncovers hidden secrets as of where the underwater city might be etc. And in one of those times she was spying she realizes the scientist are working on a force field to seal the city. She finds out where the city is hidden.
Later on Lola finds submarines in the museum and decides to go herself to the city and save herself since her friends aren't willing to listen to her. She is not captured, get's away with it and when Armageddon comes she is inside the city protected by the underwater force field. And among her are other thousands of survivors. Details can be added to it. Don't you think?

Based on what you have learned, is the idea of “separate but equal” facilities consistent with the Fourteenth Amendment? Use evi
mariarad [96]

Answer:

In no way was the idea of "separate but equal" consistent with the provisions of the Fourteenth Amendment, which basically establishes equal rights between African Americans and whites in the country, and admits the citizenship of black people.

The racist governments in the south of the country sought a mechanism to, without manifestly contravening this amendment, segregate the African American population and separate it from the white population. To do this, they sought to comply with the rights established in the Constitution, but through different services from those of whites, and of much lower quality.

Thus, with the complicity of the judicial systems, they violated the principle of equality of the Constitution, protecting themselves in an alleged legality of the "separate but equal" system.
