The probability that santa will come to the mall or your best friend will be there is 90% ⇒ A

Step-by-step explanation:

The addition rules of probability are:

  • P(A or B) = P(A) + P(B) ⇒ mutually exclusive (events cannot happen  at the same time)
  • P(A or B) = P(A) + P(B) - P(A and B) ⇒ non-mutually exclusive (if they  have at least one outcome in common)

∵ There is a 75% chance that santa will come to the mall that day

∴ P(santa) = 75% = 75 ÷ 100 = 0.75

∵ There is a 55% chance that your best friend will be at the mall

∴ P(friend) = 55% = 55 ÷ 100 = 0.55

∵ There is a 40% chance that your best friend and santa

    will be at the mall

∴ P(friend and santa) = 40% = 40 ÷ 100 = 0.4

To find the probability that santa will come to the mall or your best friend will be there use the non-mutually exclusive addition rule

∵ P(friend or santa) = P(friend) + P(santa) - P(friend and santa)

∴ P(friend or santa) = 0.55 + 0.75 - 0.4

∴ P(friend or santa) = 0.9

- Change it to percentage by multiplying it by 100%

∴ P(friend or santa) = 0.9 × 100% = 90%

The probability that santa will come to the mall or your best friend will be there is 90%

Use the graph that shows the solution to
Luda [366]

Answer:

The solution for f(x) = g(x) are;

x = 1 and x = -1

Step-by-step explanation:

The given equations for the functions, g(x) are;

f(x) = \dfrac{1 + 2\cdot x}{x}

g(x) = 2 + x

The solution for f(x) = g(x), is given by equating the equations of the two functions as follows;

When f(x) = g(x), we have;

\dfrac{1 + 2\cdot x}{x} = 2 + x

By cross multiplication, we have;

1 + 2·x = x × (2 + x) = 2·x + x²

∴ x² + 2·x - 2·x - 1 = 0

x² - 1 = 0

(x - 1)·(x + 1) = 0

x = 1, or x = -1

f(x) = g(x) = 2 + 1 = 3, or 2 - 1 = 1

Therefore, the solution for f(x) = g(x) are;

f(x) = g(x) = 3 or 1 where x = 1 and x = -1.

Someone help with this
timama [110]

Answer:

18% decrease

Step-by-step explanation:

  1. 7,500 - 6,125 = $1,375
  2. Set up a proportion: \frac{1375}{7500} = \frac{x}{100}
  3. Cross multiply, then divide: 1375 × 100 = 137500, 137500 ÷ 7500 = 18 1/3
  4. 18 1/3% rounded = 18%
  5. It went down, so it is a decrease

I hope this helps!

At noon, ship A is 130 km west of ship B. Ship A is sailing east at 25 km/h and ship B is sailing north at 20 km/h. How fast is
Hitman42 [59]

Answer:

answer = 12.87 km/h

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

Ship A is sailing east at 25 km/h = \frac{dx}{dt}

ship B is sailing north at 20 km/h =\frac{dy}{dt}

here x and y are the  sailing at t = 4 : 00 pm for ship A and B respectively

so we get x = 4 ×25 =100 km/h

                 y = 4× 20 = 80 km/h

let z is the distance between the ships, we need to find \frac{dz}{dt} at t = 4 hr

At noon, ship A is 130 km west of ship B (12:00 pm)

so equation will be

z^2 = (130-x)^2 + y^2......................(i)\\put x = 100 and y = 80 \\\\we |  | get \\

z^2 = 30^2 + 80^2\\z =\sqrt{7300} km/h

derivative first equation w . r. to t we get

2z\frac{dz}{dt} =-2(130-x)\frac{dx}{dt}+2y\frac{dy}{dt}

\frac{dz}{dt} =\frac{1}{z}[(x -130)\frac{dx}{dt} +y\frac{dy}{dt}]

\frac{dz}{dt} = \frac{( -20\times25 + 80\times20)}{\sqrt{7300} }

     = \frac{1100}{85.44}\\  = 12.87km/h
