Answer:

The answer is: A group of people acting together

Explanation:

As you can see, the first option along with the last options, are the only options that are actually nouns. The other options are adjectives, so the preposition "of" doesn't allow the following word to make sense with an adjective, see it this way: The efficient of government... sounds odd right? It´d rather be, the efficient government... without "of" same happens with the second option.

On the other hand, the last option is the least possible for it is the literal meaning of "machine" and well, in this context that isn't the point. We're talking about a machine as of an organization, a system, a group of people; and well, that's what the government is.

Identify the predicate nominative(s) in the sentence. In tenth grade, Jackie became the leader of the scout troop.
Vladimir79 [104]
The correct answer is 'leader'. A predicate nominative, or predicate noun, is the object of a linking verb. When trying to find the predicate nominative, simply use this format: "What did (subject) (linking verb)?"
So, in the sentence "The animal is a cat.", 'animal' is the subject and 'is' is the linking verb.
What is the animal?
The animal is a cat.
Therefore, the predicate nominative is 'cat'.

In tenth grade, Jackie became the leader of the scout troop.
'Jackie' is the subject and 'became' is the linking verb.
What did Jackie become?
Jackie became the leader. (We can exclude 'of the scout troop' because it is a prepositional phrase.)
Therefore, the predicate nominative is 'leader'.
Hope this helps!

FinnZ [79.3K]

Answer:

I believe that there's no such thing as a perfect friend. However, an ideal friend should be supportive, caring, and able to love you unconditionally. A friend will always retain your closure with him even though you have not seen or bonded with him for years. He will always be with you, despite the problems that he is facing or how busy he is. Having a friend means having someone who stays by your side through ups and downs, who will defend you even though you aren't there, and who will move hell and high water just to prove that he cares for you.
