The percent of change is 77% and it is percent of decrease

Step-by-step explanation:

The percent of change is:

  • Increasing if the new value is greater than the old value
  • Decreasing if the new value is smaller than the old value
  • Increasing% = \frac{New-Old}{Old} × 100%
  • Decreasing% = \frac{Old-New}{Old} × 100%

∵ 31 inches changed to 7 inches

- The new value is smaller than the old value

∵ 31 is the old value

∵ 7 is the new value

∵ 7 < 31

∴ The change is  decreasing

- Find the percentage of decreasing using the formula of

  decreasing% above

∵ The percent of change = \frac{31-7}{31} × 100%

∴ The percent of change = 77.419%

- Round it to the nearest percent

∴ The percent of change = 77% decreasing

The percent of change is 77% and it is percent of decrease

    $ 23.97 + (0.06 * 23.97)
