In order to maintain the parallel structure sentence (3) should be revised to read, “My next stop will be old Mr. Butterworth’s for a chat with my favourite neighbour.”

In this passage each sentence starts in a similar way as the author has decided to list each activity he/she will do in his/her visit to the home town by using “My first stop….”, “My second stop….”, ““My next stop….” and “My last stop…” at the beginning of each sentence. In addition, the writer resorts to the simple future tense when he/she says what he/she will do in each stop and then he/she adds the purpose of theses action.

For example: “…., my first stop will be my uncle’s old gas station to fill the car”. In this fragment, the author starts his/her list of activities with the phrase “my first stop”, then he/she continues with a simple future tense to explain what he/she is going to do “will be my uncle’s old gas station” and finally he says the aim of this stop “to fill the car”. This grammatical structure is repeated in the subsequent sentences.

oee [108]

The johari window contains a panel that includes information that is not known to oneself or to other people. this panel is labeled unknown

What is meant by Johari window?

Although "Johari" sounds like a word from a magical language, it is actually just a combination of its founders Joseph Luft and Harry Ingham's first names (Luft, 1970). The model that Luft and Ingham developed can help us comprehend more than just self-disclosure because of their interest in the self (for example, it can be used as a tool for self-awareness). For the sake of this discussion, we look at how the window can be used with the self-disclosure procedure.

The Johari Window shows you visually how "known" you are to both yourself and other people. A square with four panels makes up the model. The big square is a representation of your total self. It includes every piece of information there is to know about you.

Why might O'Brien specify a weight for all of the items?
Vlada [557]

Answer:

This gives the reader a sense of the burden that the men are bearing in carrying these things. Much attention is given to the weight and pressure the soldiers feel from what they're carrying and from external forces, such as nature.

Explanation:

"They carried the sky. The whole atmosphere...they carried gravity." But the greatest weight the men feel comes from nothing they can physically carry, but rather their emotions: "Grief, terror, love, longing these were intangibles, but the intangibles had their own mass and specific gravity, they had tangible weight.
