1) Explain to someone how you would do the problem -12 + 5. Explain to them how they would know if the final answer was going to

be positive or negative. Explain to them how they’d calculate the final answer. Model for them using the number line model and/or the two colored counter method.
2) A football team gained 7 yards, lost 3 yards, gained 15 yards, lost 2 yards, lost 3 yards
and gained 6 yards. What is the net gain or loss? Explain HOW you found your answer.

Answer:

1) -12 + 5 = -7, to know if the answer will be positive or negative we see the biggest number, if the biggest number is positive the answer will be positive and if it is negative the answer will be negative, in this case 12 is bigger than 5 and it is negative. The model is in the attachment.

2) 20 yards gained, you found the answer by adding all the gained yards and subtracting all the lost yards.

Step-by-step explanation:

1) this question is asking how to solve -12 + 5 which is equal to -7. The number line model is in the attachment

2) To solve number 2 we have to add all the yards they gained and subtract all the yads they lost:

7-3+15-2-3+6 and this is equal to 20 yards gained. We found this answer by adding and subtracting. A number line model is in the attachment.

Answer:

1) -12 + 5 = -7 you just set it up and solve it like a regular problem and then to see if its a - or + we see what number was bigger so -12 is bigger then +5 so our answer is -7

2) 7 -3 + 15 - 2 - 3 + 6 so lets add up all the negative numbers and all the positive numbers so now we have + 28 - 8 so the we solve +28 - 8 = +20 again the sign goes with the bigger number!

Hope this helps!!! Good luck!!! ;)

In an endurance race, Rachel ran
Reil [10]

Answer:

31\frac{1}{5}\ miles

Step-by-step explanation:

we know that

The speed is equal to divide the distance by the time

so

The distance is equal to multiply the speed by the time

we have

speed=9\frac{3}{5}\ \frac{miles}{hour}

time=3\frac{1}{4}\ hours

distance=(9\frac{3}{5})(3\frac{1}{4})

Convert mixed number to an improper fraction

9\frac{3}{5}=9+\frac{3}{5}=\frac{9*5+3}{5}=\frac{48}{5}

3\frac{1}{4}=3+\frac{1}{4}=\frac{3*4+1}{4}=\frac{13}{4}

substitute

distance=(\frac{48}{5})(\frac{13}{4})=\frac{624}{20}=31,2\ miles

Convert to mixed number

31.2\ mi=31+0.2=31+\frac{1}{5}=31\frac{1}{5}\ miles

5x = 4y - 3

The correct answer is D. 5x - 4y = -3

This is because standard form is the form ax + by = c, where a, b, and c are coefficients or constants of the variables x and y.  Thus, Answer D (above) is the correct answer to this problem, as it is the only option that fits this.

solong [7]

Answer:

x = 4, y = 3

Step-by-step explanation:

Equating corresponding coordinates , gives

2x = 8 ( divide both sides by 2 )

x = 4

and
