The answer is 1 1/6 in lowest terms and in decimal form its 1.166667.

Here are the steps I used.

1. Change 3 1/2 to a improper fraction ( 3 * 2 + 1 over 2 * 1/3)

2. Simplify 3 x 2 to 6 ( 6 + 1 over 2 x 1/3)

3. Simplify 6 + 1 to 7 ( 7/2 x 1/3)

4. Multiply ( 7 x 1 over 2 x 3)

5. Simplify 7 x 1 to 7 ( 7 over 2 x 3)

6. Simplify 2 x 3 to 6 ( 7/6)

Lastly reduce it once more to lowest terms, therefore the answer is 1 1/6.

4. To determine if a triangle is a right triangle, given that you know the length of its sides, you have to check if its lengths follow the Pythagorean theorem.

This theorem states that the square of the hypothenuse (c) is equal to the sum of the squares of the legs of the triangle (a and b), following the expression:

a^2+b^2=c^2

The triangle is:

We have to check that a²+ b² is equal to c².

The square of the hypothenuse is:

\begin{gathered} c^2=10^2 \\ c^2=100 \end{gathered}

The sum of the squares of the legs of the triangle is:

\begin{gathered} a^2+b^2=8^2+6^2 \\ a^2+b^2=64+36 \\ a^2+b^2=100 \end{gathered}

As you can see, the sum of the squares of the legs of the triangle is 100, which is the same as the square of the hypothenuse. The triangle follows the Pythagorean theorem and can be considered a right triangle.

Help please; I need the right answer
Ad libitum [116K]

Answer:

C.

Step-by-step explanation:

\cos x+\sqrt{2}=-\cos x \\ 2\cos x = -\sqrt 2 \\ \cos x = -\dfrac{\sqrt 2}{2}\\ \\ \Rightarrow x = \pm \arccos\Big(-\dfrac{\sqrt 2}{2}\Big)+2k\pi,\quad x\in \mathbb{Z}\\ \Rightarrow x =\pm\dfrac{3\pi}{4}+2k\pi\\ \\ \\k = -1 \Rightarrow x < 0\\\\ k=0 \Rightarrow x 2\pi
