Soils are part of our natural capital and all terrestrial life depends on it. most mature soils have about how many soil horizon
lisabon 2012 [21]
I believe that most mature soils have three soil horizons. That is Horizon A, Horizon B, and Horizon C. Horizon A, also called the top soil contains a mixture of mineral matter and organic matter, as well as many insects, fungi, and microorganisms. Horizon B, also called the sub soil, contains fine clay particles washed out of horizon A. Horizon C contains partially weathered parent material.

. In which phase of cellular respiration is glucose a substrate?
vodka [1.7K]

Explanation:

During glycolysis, enzymes act on the substrate, glucose. Glycolysis occurs in the cytoplasm; here, 2 molecules of ATP are used to cleave glucose into 2 pyruvates, 4 ATP and 2 electron carrying NADH molecules.

Further Explanation:

In all eukaryotic cells mitochondria are small cellular organelles bound by membranes, these make most of the chemical energy required for powering the biochemical reactions within the cell. This chemical energy is stored within the molecule ATP which is produced. Respiration in the mitochondria utilizes oxygen for the production of ATP in the Krebs’ or Citric acid cycle via the oxidization of pyruvate( through the process of glycolysis in the cytoplasm).

overall: C6H12O6 (glucose) + 6 O2 → 6 CO2 + 6 H2O + ≈38 ATP

Oxidative phosphorylation describes a process in which the NADH and FADH2 made in previous steps of respiration process give up electrons in the electron transport chain these are converted it to their previous forms, NADH+ and FAD. Electrons continue to move down the chain the energy they release is used in pumping protons out of the matrix of the mitochondria.

This forms a gradient where there is a differential in the number of protons on either side of the membrane the protons flow or re-enter the matrix through the enzyme ATP synthase, which makes the energy storage molecules of ATP from the reduction of ADP. At the end of the electron transport, three molecules of oxygen accept electrons and protons to form molecules of water...

 • Glycolysis: occurs in the cytoplasm 2 molecules of ATP are used to cleave glucose into 2 pyruvates, 4 ATP and 2 electron carrying NADH molecules.
 • The Kreb's cycle: in the mitochondrial matrix- 6 molecules of CO2 are produced by combining oxygen and the carbon within pyruvate, 2 ATP oxygen molecules, 8 NADH and 2 FADH2.
 • The electron transport chain, ETC: in the inner mitochondrial membrane, 34 ATP, electrons combine with H+ split from 10 NADH, 4 FADH2, renewing the number of electron acceptors and 3 oxygen; this forms 6 H2O, 10 NAD+, 4 FAD.

How do the thickness of the cuticle and the number of stomata differ in plants from wet habitats versus dry habitats? Drag the a
slavikrds [6]

Wet versus Dry habitats

Explanation:

 • Plants from wet habitats have a relatively large number of stomata and thin cuticle
 • Plants from dry habitats have a less number of stomata and thick cuticle
 • Stomata helps in exchange of gases whereas cuticle reduces the loss of water
 • If water is more then plants have large number of stomata which helps in great access to water and increases support for herbaceous tissues
 • In case of dry habitat conditions are not favorable with regard to water hence a thick cuticle is required to minimize the water loss while in wet habitat water is abundant hence they have a thin cuticle

A.Vascular plants have a relatively large number of stomata

B. Plants from wet habitats include white lotus, water lily

C. Plants from dry habitats include xerophytes for example cactus, oleander

Explain how breast-cancer genes are still present in the population, despite cancer-related surgeries and deaths.
Rus_ich [418]

Answer:

What are so called breast-cancer genes, are mutations in two genes: BRCA1 (BReast CAncer gene one) and BRCA2 (BReast CAncer gene two), and are also associated with ovaric cancer. According to the question, these genes are present in the popolation despite surgeries and deaths, and asks why. Surgeries does not eliminate the genes, they eliminate the tumors, and people can still reproduce after that. And also, most people already had offspring before they know they have cancer, so they are inheriting the mutations on the genes anyway.
