A ratio is just like a fraction

so if you have 2/12 you divid 2 by 12 and get a decimal then you move the decimal over 2 places to the right and add a percent sign

Answer:

              \bold{x_1=-\dfrac{3+\sqrt{41}}{2}\approx-4.7\ ,\quad x_2=-\dfrac{3-\sqrt{41}}{2}\approx1.7}

Step-by-step explanation:

-2x^2-3x+4=0\\\\a=-2\,,\ b=-3\,,\ c=4\\\\\\x=\dfrac{-b-\sqrt{b^2\pm4ac}}{2a}=\dfrac{-(-3)\pm\sqrt{(-3)^2-4(-2)(4)}}{2(-1)}=\dfrac{3\pm\sqrt{9+32}}{-2}\\\\\\x_1=-\dfrac{3+\sqrt{41}}{2}\approx-4.7\ ,\qquad x_2=-\dfrac{3-\sqrt{41}}{2}\approx1.7

Pavlova-9 [17]
Since distance equals speed times time (d = st), we have

t = d/s

where d = 120 miles and s = 15 miles per hour

t = d / s
t = 120 / 15
t = 8

It will take 8 hours to drive 120 miles at a speed of 15 miles per hour.
