Be on the lookout for other tactics, such as whataboutism, name-calling, etc. Once you notice it, what do you do? Check the facts, consult a variety of, ideally independent, news sources from throughout the world, and find out what ordinary people who have little interest in the subject believe. You will discover the truth if you examine the story from several angles.
