Ancient Mesopotamia was known as the land between the rivers.  It had polytheistic values and was located in modern Iran.  Mesopotamia was made up of different civilizations such as Phoenicia, Babylon, and Sumer.  Mesopotamia is credited with creating the first system of writing, mathematics, and astronomy.
