The answer would be D.

The mutation would cause a(in most cases) new and different polypeptide(protein) to be made so it can cause a different trait. For example a new eye color in fruit fly with mutated dna.

Answer: D. The mutated gene codes for a protein that causes a new trait

Explanation:

A mutation is a change in the DNA sequence that can occur from multiple causes. For example, by errors during replication or by the action of mutagens such as UV radiation, among others. When a mutation occurs, if not repaired, it can lead to the production of a different protein. This is because genes code for amino acids, which bonded together form proteins. <u>A change in a DNA gene base can lead to code for a different amino acid</u> (or even adding a new one or causing another to be lost). <u>This alteration can lead to the synthesis of another protein involved in the expression of a trait, and giving rise to a different characteristic</u>, which can be beneficial or harmful.

What is included in the body’s nonspecific defense against invading pathogens?
Setler [38]

The body's nonspecific defiance against invading pathogens is known as innate immunity and includes the following:

mechanical barriers and surface secretions

1. The intact skin and mucous membranes of the body. These provide a high degree of protection against pathogens.

2. The sebaceous secretions and sweat of the skin contain bactericidal and fungicidal fatty acids that can kill bacteria and fungi.

3. Normal bacterial flora of the skin may produce various antimicrobial substances such as bacteriocines and acids.

Humoral defence mechanisms

1. Lysozyme. This is an enzyme found in most tissue fluids apart from cerebrospinal fluid, urine, and sweat. It can kill bacteria.

2. Interferon. Inhibits viruses from replicating

3. Complement. This is a heat labile serum that can destroy gram-negative bacteria.

A plate moves 200m in 10,000 years. what is the rate in cm/year
algol13

Answer:

Rate = 2 cm/year

Explanation:

It is given that, a plate moves 200m in 10,000 years. We need to find its rate in cm/year.

We know that, 1 m = 100 cm

200 m = 200 × 100 cm

= 20000 cm

Its rate is given by :

R=\dfrac{20000}{10,000}\\\\R=2\ cm/year

So, the plate is moving at a rate of 2 cm/year.

A computer is an example of technology that is used in science. For what purpose are computers used?
Licemer1 [7]

Answer:

Computer automation is used mostly by industry in factories. However, it is also useful in science. Machines can be used to run automated tests and complete simple tasks. One example of a machine used in science is the robotic arm that is used to handle radioactive samples.
