5 Halloween bags containing 14 bars and 21 gum pieces, 7 Halloween bags containing 10 bars and 15 gum pieces and 35 bags containing 2 bars and 3 gum pieces can be created using 70 Milky Way bars and 105 pieces of bubble gum.

<u>Solution:</u>

Mrs Cohan is making Halloween bags for her party.

Number of Milky Way bars with Mrs Cohan = 70

Number of bubble gum pieces with Mrs Cohan = 105

We need to distribute 70 bars and 105 bubble gum pieces in each bag

On factorizing 70 we get

70=7 \times 5 \times 2

On factorizing 105 we get

105=7 \times 5 \times 3

The common factors of 70 and 105 are 5, 7 and 35

So 70 bars and 105 bubble gum pieces can be equally distributed among 5 bags, 7 bags and 35 bags.

⇒ Number of milky bar in each bag when 5 bags are created =\frac{70}{5}=14

⇒ Number of bubble gum pieces in each bag when 5 bags are created =\frac{105}{5}=21

⇒ Number of milky bar in each bag when 7 bags are created =\frac{70}{7}=10

⇒ Number of bubble gum pieces in each bag when 5 bags are created =\frac{105}{7}=15

⇒ Number of milky bar in each bag when 35 bags are created =\frac{70}{35}=2

⇒ Number of bubble gum pieces in each bag when 35 bags are created =\frac{105}{35}=3

Hence ⇒ 5 Halloween bags containing 14 bars and 21 gum pieces

⇒ 7 Halloween bags containing 10 bars and 15 gum pieces

⇒ 35 bags containing 2 bars and 3 gum pieces can be created using 70 Milky Way bars and 105 pieces of bubble gum.

If x1 and x2 are the roots of the equation x^2 +5x-3=0, determine the value of x1^2 + x2^2. I know that I have to use vietas for
Arturiano [62]

Answer:

31

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

x² + 5x - 3 = 0

with a = 1, b = 5, c= - 3 , then

sum of roots x₁ + x₂ = - \frac{b}{a} = - \frac{5}{1} = - 5

product of roots = \frac{c}{a} = \frac{-3}{1} = - 3

Now

(x₁ + x₂)² = x₁² + 2x₁x₂ + x₂² , that is

(- 5)² = x₁² + 2(- 3) + x₂²

25 = x₁² - 6 + x₂² ( add 6 to both sides ), then

x₁² + x₂² = 31

Bess [88]

Answer:

12566.4 mm²

Step-by-step explanation:

The Petri dish shown has no lid. What is the surface area of the outside of the Petri dish? Round to the nearest tenth. A cylindrical-shaped Petri dish with a radius of 50 millimeters and a height of 15 millimeters.

TSA = Total Surface Area

CSA = Curved Surface Area

TSA of open cylinder = CSA of cylinder + area of base or top

= 2πrh + πr²

= πr(2h + r)

From the above question:

r = 50mm

h = 15mm

Hence,

= π × 50 (2 × 15 + 50)

= π × 50 (30 + 50)

= π × 50(80)

= π × 4000

= 12566.370614mm²

Approximately = 12566.4 mm²

The Surface Area of the petri dish with no lid = 12566.4 mm²
