Answer:

a) Decrease

b) New mean = 78.43

c) Decrease

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given the following in the question:

Total number of students in class = 28

Average of 27 students = 79

Standard Deviation of 27 students = 6.5

New student's score = 63

a) The new student's score will decrease the average.

b) New mean

Mean = \displaystyle\frac{\text{Sum of all observations}}{\text{Total number of observation}}

Mean = \dfrac{\displaystyle\sum x_i}{27} = 79\\\\\sum x_i = 27\times 79 = 2133

New mean =

\text{ New mean} =\dfrac{ \displaystyle\sum x_i +63}{28}\\\\ =\dfrac{2133+63}{28}= \dfrac{2196}{28} = 78.43

Thus, the new mean is 78.43

c) Since the new mean decreases, standard deviation for new scores will decrease.

This is because the new value is within the usual values i.e. within two standard deviations of the mean. So, this wont cause a lot of variation as this value will be closer to already available data values. Also number of observations (n) in the denominator is increasing. Based on both these points we can conclude that standard deviation will decrease

Formula for Standard Deviation:

\text{Standard Deviation} = \sqrt{\displaystyle\frac{\sum (x_i -\bar{x})^2}{n}}

where x_i are data points, \bar{x} is the mean and n is the number of observations.

A large electronic office product contains 2000 electronic components. Assume that the probability that each component operates
KIM [24]

Answer:

The probability is 0.971032

Step-by-step explanation:

The variable that says the number of components that fail during the useful life of the product follows a binomial distribution.

The Binomial distribution apply when we have n identical and independent events with a probability p of success and a probability 1-p of not success. Then, the probability that x of the n events are success is given by:

P(x)=\frac{n!}{x!(n-x)!}*p^{x}*(1-p)^{n-x}

In this case, we have 2000 electronics components with a probability 0.005 of fail during the useful life of the product and a probability 0.995 that each component operates without failure during the useful life of the product. Then, the probability that x components of the 2000 fail is:

P(x)=\frac{2000!}{x!(2000-x)!}*0.005^{x}*(0.995)^{2000-x}     (eq. 1)

So, the probability that 5 or more of the original 2000 components fail during the useful life of the product is:

P(x ≥ 5) = P(5) + P(6) + ... + P(1999) + P(2000)

We can also calculated that as:

P(x ≥ 5) = 1 - P(x ≤ 4)

Where P(x ≤ 4) = P(0) + P(1) + P(2) + P(3) + P(4)

Then, if we calculate every probability using eq. 1, we get:

P(x ≤ 4) = 0.000044 + 0.000445 + 0.002235 + 0.007479 + 0.018765

P(x ≤ 4) = 0.028968

Finally, P(x ≥ 5) is:

P(x ≥ 5) = 1 - 0.028968

P(x ≥ 5) = 0.971032

The moon is about 240,000 miles from earth . What is the distance written as a whole number multiplied by a power of ten
Murrr4er [49]
240,000 is a whole number. Now do the power of ten lol. Use a calculator. Remember don't do it all at once. The powers mean multiplying separate for example: 10×10 equals 100. I hundred times10 equals 1000. That is powered by three because it is multiplying 1030 different times which makes it the power. Simple math these days ha ha

Find all solutions for the following equations. Write your answers in radians using exact values. (Enter your answers as a comma
sasho [114]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that:

sin2xcos x + cos2xsin x = -1

Recall that;

SInAcosB + cosASinB = SIn (A+B)

SIn (2x +x) = -1

Sin (3x) = -1

x = \bigg [\dfrac{Sin ^{-1} (-1)}{3}  \bigg ]

x = \dfrac{\pi}{2} + \dfrac{2 \pi \ k}{3}

x = \dfrac{\pi}{2}, \dfrac{7 \pi}{6}, \dfrac{11 \pi}{6}
