Say whether these sentences are direct or indirect.

English
2 answers:
Ierofanga [76]3 years ago
8 0

1. I asked her whether she wanted to come. (Indirect)

2. I asked, “Do you want to come.” (Direct)

3. The passenger enquired whether there was a later train. (Indirect)

4. What’s the matter with you. (Direct)

5. I asked him what the matter was. (Indirect)

6. How late do the trains run. (Direct)

Direct speech is basically a speech that quotes what the real person said.

Indirect speech is just like a summary of what the person would do or go.

The first two questions are good examples of that.

The Sirens sing out to the men who pass by them, alluring them with their exquisite voices. What is the
denis23 [38]

Answer:

Hi! I'm a little confused on what your asking... Are you asking if this is a good summary if this is what you wrote for what the sirens offer of temptation? If so, it does seem pretty good but it looks like you based it off from the text and quoted from it. Just elaborate most of it in your own words and you should be fine. :)

Read the excerpt from "Why Do Black Women Fear the Fro?” by Cheryl Thompson.
Sladkaya [172]

The phrase affects the tone of the excerpt because:

 • The phrase shows that the author is disheartened by the lack of authentic images.

What is the exact tone of the text?

The disheartening tone of the text suggests that the author is not happy with the way black women were being portrayed. They were losing themselves in the bid to fit in.

The black woman cannot love herself because her true self is hidden. So it is not encouraging to find that all media channels support this act. From the content of the text, we can deduce that the author wants black women to channel their originality and not seek to be accepted by society.

For this to happen, they have to proudly wear their hairstyle and culture and not try to fit into what is accepted by any culture they feel is superior to theirs. So, the current situation is not encouraging.
