The great depression... think of something. it affected the whole country. just imagine what it would feel like to get horrible schools, no food for days, and a little kid going to work in the factories because his dad can't make enough money. it's not hard, just devastating to write about something the U.S. had to go through

Note that this is for the whole world too. there were events like black Monday and other devestations that happened in other countries like ww2. mass industrialization of the Soviet Union and Germany's economic policies that devastated a whole population.
