Answer:

The equation of the ellipse is \frac{x^{2}}{(17)^{2}}+\frac{y^{2}}{(15)^{2}}=1

Step-by-step explanation:

The standard form of the equation of an ellipse with center (0 , 0) is

\frac{x^{2}}{a^{2}}+\frac{y^{2}}{b^{2}}=1 , where

  • The coordinates of the vertices are (± a , 0)
  • The coordinates of the foci are (± c , 0) , where c ² = a² - b²

∵ The ellipse is centered at the origin

∴ The center of it is (0 , 0)

∵ It has foci at (± 8 , 0)

- The coordinates of the foci are (± c , 0)

∴ c = ±8

∵ It has Vertices at (± 17 , 0)

- The coordinates of the vertices are (± a , 0)

∴ a = ±17

∵ c² = a² - b²

- Substitute the values of c and a to find b

∴ (8)² = (17)² - b²

∴ 64 = 289 - b²

- Add b² to both sides

∴ b² + 64 = 289

- Subtract 64 from both sides

∴ b² = 225

- Take √  for both sides

∴ b = ± 15

∵ The equation of the ellipse is \frac{x^{2}}{a^{2}}+\frac{y^{2}}{b^{2}}=1

- Substitute the values of a and b in it

∴ \frac{x^{2}}{(17)^{2}}+\frac{y^{2}}{(15)^{2}}=1 ⇒ \frac{x^{2}}{289}+\frac{y^{2}}{225}=1

∴ The equation of the ellipse is \frac{x^{2}}{(17)^{2}}+\frac{y^{2}}{(15)^{2}}=1

A collection of coins consisting of nickels dimes and quarters amount to 7.20. There are six more dimes than nickels and six mor
monitta

Answer:

9 nickles

15 dimes

21 quarters

Step-by-step explanation:

Number of nickels = N

Number of dimes = D

Number of quarters = Q

The following system can be modeled based of the given information:

0.05N+0.10D+0.25Q=7.20\\D=N+6\\Q=D+6

Solving the system:

D=N+6\\Q=N+6+6=N+12\\0.05N+0.10*(N+6)+0.25*(N+12)=7.20\\0.4N=7.20-0.6-3\\N=9\\D=9+6=15\\Q=15+6=21

The collection consists of 9 nickels, 15 dimes and 21 quarters.

Zanzabum

Answer:  x=-303

Step-by-step explanation:

x+310=7

We move all terms to the left:

x+310-(7)=0

We add all the numbers together, and all the variables

x+303=0

We move all terms containing x to the left, all other terms to the right

x=-303
