3 is always on the numerator. It is not effected by a power. The answer has to be something that leaves the numerator alone. That means that B is not correct.

The answer is going to be something that makes the denominator 1 when n = 1. That's going to be the answer to the question, because the first term in the sequence is just 3. The denominator must be 1. (not zero).

D is not the answer, because 3/5^1 = 3/5, so D is wrong.

A is not going to get us anywhere either. 3/5^(1 + 1) = 3/5^2 = 3/25 which is not the first term.

The only choice we have left is C. It must be the answer. 3/5^(1 - 1) = 3/5^0 = 3/1 = 3. There's your answer. Note anything raised to the zero power = 1.

I'm going to convert all the values given to you in percentages, so hopefully you should be able to see the correct answer a little clearer. :)

Debbie said that 21/50 drink coffee in the morning. 21/50 can also be written as 42/100, and now that it's out of 100, it's basically a percentage. (42%).

Allen said that 45% of people drink coffee in the morning. His value is already written as a percentage, so we won't do anything with it.

Benny says that 0.495 of the people he surveyed drink coffee in the morning. 0.495 is the same as 49.5% (multiply it by 100 to get it in a percentage).

So, in Debbie's survey, 42% of people drink coffee.
In Allen's survey, 45% of people drink coffee.
In Benny's survey, 49.5% of people drink coffee.

Therefore, the answer is Benny's survey. :)

4x find the degree with steps
Alex787 [66]

9514 1404 393

Answer:

 1

Step-by-step explanation:

The term has 1 variable, which has no exponent shown. When the exponent is not shown, it is understood to be 1. The degree of the term is the exponent of this single variable, so the degree is 1.

_____

Additional comment

If the term is a product of more than one variable, the degree is the sum of their exponents.

Write each rate as a unit rate. $2 for 5 cans of soup.
Len [333]
If you would like to write each rate as a unit rate, you can do this using the following steps:

$2 ... 5 cans of a soup
$1 ... x cans of a soup = ?

2 * x = 5 * 1
2 * x = 5
x = 5 / 2
x = 2.5 cans of a soup per $1

$2 ... 5 cans of a soup
$x = ? ... 1 can of a soup

2 * 1 = 5 * x
2 = 5 * x
x = 2 / 5
x = $0.4 per 1 can of a soup
