Answer:

During transcription in eukaryotes, a type of RNA polymerase called RNA polymerase II moves along the template strand of the DNA in the 3'→5' direction. However, for any given gene, either strand of the double-stranded DNA may function as the template strand.

Answer:

the specific sequence of bases along the DNA strands

Explanation:

What determines which DNA strand is the template strand and therefore in which direction RNA polymerase II moves along the DNA is a specific sequence of nitrogenous bases along the DNA strands. This sequence is called the initiation codon.

The presence of the initiation codon (AUG) is extremely important as it provides the reading frame into which the mRNA will be translated. It is this codon that shows which of the DNA strands will serve as a template for RNA construction, and which direction RNA polymerase II should follow.

90% of the time AUG is the initiation codon for prokaryotes, but also AUA, GUG or UUG can be found. However, AUG is always the initiation code for eukaryotes.

Discuss the connection between viruses and cancers, giving possible mechanisms for viruses that cause cancer.
Marrrta [24]
Cancers are said to be caused by genetics, meaning the disease originated from the DNA structure. There are viruses that affect the DNA. Examples are hepatitis B virus, Epstein-Barr virus, herpes virus-8 and human papilloma virus. These are the DNA viruses that could cause cancer.

Describe what happens to water particles when ice metls.
leva [86]

Answer:Ice melts when heat energy causes the molecules to move faster, breaking the hydrogen bonds between molecules to form liquid water. In the melting process, the water molecules actually absorb energy.

What are short-lived climate pollutants?
professor190 [17]

Answer:

Black carbon, tropospheric ozone, methane, and hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) are all considered short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs). Because these pollutants have atmospheric lifetimes of only days to a decade and a half (compared to CO2 which can persist in the atmosphere for millennia) they are referred to as short-lived climate pollutants.
