The option that best describes the role of the metaphor in the passage is b. To convey a sense of what Rita is feeling.

A metaphor is a figure of speech which implies the meaning of an object with another, which is not completely applicable. Metaphors are used to describe an emotional state or instance. It refers to the verbal expression of the experience. Sometimes it becomes difficult to express in language, hence metaphorical language helps in a description of intense emotion.

As in the above instance it describes about her fear through the metaphors "speeding train" and "creaked like an ancient door on rusty hinges"

Explain the FBI supervisor's
Nadusha1986 [10]

Answer:

They had no proof whatsoever!

Explanation:

The problem is that, if the american teachers thought they saw that specific painting, and the person who later offered the police officers fruit, and acted surprised, could've hid the painting before the police got here. What the teachers could've done is take a picture and have proof for when the cops did get there. If they didn't have a phone, they should've kept their eye on the painting, someway or another.

HOPE THIS HELPS!! (:

What did students take away from the discussion between the author and Mr.
gregori [183]

Answer:Writing is a personal process and there is not just one way to do it.

Explanation: In the first chapter of On Writing Well, the writer William Zinsser recalls being invited to a school in Connecticut to speak about writing as a vocation. Mr. Brock, a surgeon who had started writing as a hobby, was there to speak about writing as an avocation. This allowed the students to have access to different perspectives on writing and to understand that there is not just one right way to write.
