The sun, after various chemical processes emit sunlight composed of photons, it travels through space in the form of waves until it reaches the earth in a process that only takes 8 minutes. These waves are responsible for all visible light during the day. It also generates the heat/energy necessary for life.

The waves of solar energy when entering the Earth's atmosphere are trapped by various chemicals that are in our atmosphere, not being able to leave the space again it is trapped and generates heat, this heat is necessary for the life in our planet.
