Do you sympathize with Pahom ? Why or why not ?

English

Yes, I definitely sympathize with Pahom because he worked a lot in order to achieve his goals. I feel both admiration and pity for him because after working that hard and reached a stage where he could say he achieved his goals, he died. So although he succeeded, he did not have the chance to enjoy what he succeeded.

Brown and Hamilton promised Northup work with a circus, which never materialized. They promised he would meet the circus in New York City, which was a lie. Any incident requires a rational view, serious analysis, and serious rectification. Instead of wanton attacks, it can be solved
sp2606 [1]

The tone of the excerpt is one that is reprimanding. See the explanation below.

What is a tone?

A tone is the attitude of the narrator or the author as depicted by the choice of words used in the text. In this case, the narrator is reprimanding another character harshly. To reprimand is to rebuke or correct.

The textual evidence that supports the above answer is:

 • "Any incident requires a rational view, serious analysis, and serious rectification"
 • "When will this selfish behavior stop?"

What are examples of tone in literature?

A story's tone can be described by just about any adjective you can think of. They might consist of, but are not limited to:

 • Fearful
 • Anxious
 • Thrilled
 • Worried
 • Foolish
 • Smart
 • Gloomy
 • Airy
 • Comic
 • Condescending
 • Humorous
 • Heavy
 • Intimate
 • Sarcastic
 • Light
 • Playful sad
 • Serious
 • Sinister
 • Solemn, and
 • Menacing.

Why is tone important in Literature?

Your ability to connect to your audience's emotions, desires, wants, and interests is improved by using tone.

Their connection with your content will be higher the more you can relate to them.

By evoking an emotional response in the reader, tone can strengthen the bond between the writer and the reader (or between the reader and a brand).
