I am so sure because at the beginning of the story it is said that every member of community cares about one another but the fact that they still appreciate such a cruel tradition shows that their actual attitude is just the opposite.
9) The thing which</span> Jackson must be satirizing hazing. According to the year of release of the book and the setting of the story, the main cultural institution of ''The Lottery'' is military draft that directly lead us to ''hazing'' as this is the only option which clearly coincides.
