Answer:

The distance between the wires on the ground ≈ 27 meters

Step-by-step explanation:

To determine:

Find the distance between the wires on the ground.

Information Fetching and Solution Steps:

  • A utility pole is supported by two wires, one on each side, going in the opposite direction.
  • The two wires form a 75-degree angle at the utility pole.
  • The wires are 12 meters and 16 meters long and secured to the ground

From the information,

  • it is clear that the wires make the hypotenuses of two right triangles.
  • It is important to determine the distance in each case of the opposite side to the 75^{0} angles.

Let the distance 1 be denoted as d_{1}

Let the distance 2 be denoted as d_{2}

So,

sin\:\left(75\right)\:\:=\:\:\:\frac{d_1}{12}\:

sin\:\left(75\right)\:\:=\:\:\:\frac{d_2}{16}\:

Finding d_{1}

sin\:\left(75\right)\:\:=\:\:\:\frac{d_1}{12}\:

sin\:\left(75\right)\cdot 12\:\:=\:\:\:d_1\:

0.96 × 12 = d_{1}

d_{1} = 11.52 meter        ∵ sin (75) = 0.96

Finding d_{2}

sin\:\left(75\right)\:\:=\:\:\:\frac{d_2}{16}\:

sin\:\left(75\right)\cdot 16\:\:=\:\:\:d_2\:

0.96 × 16 =  d_{2}

d_{2} = 15.36 meters

d_{1} +  d_{2} = 11.52 + 15.36

            = 26.88 meters ≈ 27 meters

Therefore, the distance between the wires on the ground ≈ 27 meters

Suppose that a storm front is traveling at 33 mph. When the storm is 13 miles away a storm chasing van starts pursuing an averag
azamat

Answer:

It takes 0.619 hours (approximately 37 minutes) for the van to catch up with the storm.

They have driven 33.43 miles

They will catch up when their distances are equal.

Step-by-step explanation:

The speed of the van is 54 mph, and the speed of the storm is 33 mph. They are going in the same direction, so the relative speed is the difference of their speeds:

relative speed = 54 - 33 = 21 mph

Now, to find the time when the van reaches the storm, we just need to use the equation:

distance = speed * time

13 = 21 * t

t = 13 / 21 = 0.619 hours

The distance traveled by the van is:

distance = 54 * 0.619 = 33.43 miles

The van will catch up when the distances are equal (the distance of the storm is 13 + 33*0.619 = 33.43 miles)

3. Factor.
sleet_krkn [62]
It seems that some the work is already here, but I'd be glad to!! So for #3 which is 9x^2+15x, we can factor out both a 3 and an x (3x) so we know that 3x * 3x =9x^2 and 3x * 5 = 15x so once we take the 3x out of the equation, we are left with 3x(3x+5) and that's as far as you can factor.
For #4, we see that the common factor is 10m because 10m * 2n = 20mn and 10m * 3 = 30m so once we take 10m out of the original, it becomes 10m(2n-3)
For #5, this one the common factor is 4xy because 4xy * 2xy=8x^2y^2 and 4xy*x= 4x^2y and 4xy*3=12xy so once we take the 4xy out of the equation, it becomes 4xy(2xy-x-3)
Hope this helps!

Tom [10]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

You need to paint a decorative garden ornament that is in the shape of pyramid with a square base that is 3 inches long and has a slant height of 13 inches.

a. A smaller pyramid has linear dimensions that are 3/4 times that of the larger pyramid. Does the smaller pyramid require 3/4 times the amount of paint? Explain: Answer: Yes

b. Another pyramid has triple the base lengths but the same slant height. Does this pyramid require triple the paint as the original pyramid? Explain.                      Answer: No
