3(4x+2) - 6x = 5x - 5(2 + x)
3·4x+3·2-6x=5x-5·2-5·x
12x+6-6x=5x-10-5x
12x-6x-5x+5x= -10-6
6x=-16
x=- \frac{16}{6}  \\ x=- \frac{8}{3}  \\ x=-2 \frac{2}{3}

3(4x + 2) - 6x = 5x - 5(2 + x)

First, expand the equation. / Your problem should look like: 12x + 6 - 6x = 5x - 10 - 5x
Second, simplify 12x + 6 - 6x to 6x + 6. / Your problem should look like: 6x + 6 = 5x - 10 - 5x
Third, simplify 5x - 10 - 5x to -10. / Your problem should look like: 6x + 6 = -10
Fourth, subtract 6 from both sides. / Your problem should look like: 6x = -10 - 6
Fifth, simplify -10 - 6 to -16. / Your problem should look like: 6x = -16
Sixth, divide both sides by 6. / Your problem should look like: x = -\frac{16}{6}
Seventh, simplify \frac{16}{6} to \frac{8}{3} / Your problem should look like: x = - \frac{8}{3}

Answer: x = - \frac{8}{3}

20% tip on a bill of $763.11
Ulleksa [173]
This depends if you want to know just the tip or the entire total. But first you would multiply 763.11 by 0.2 to find the tip. So 763.11*0.2≈152.62 the simple tip would be $152.62 but I you want the entire total then add 763.11+152.62=915.73. Your regular tip would be $152.62 while the entire total would be $915.73.

A piece of paper is in the shape of a sector of a circle whose radius is 12 cm and the central angle of the sector is 120 degree.

It is rolled to form a cone of the biggest possible capacity.

Find the capacity of cone.

:

Find the total area of the sector

A = 120%2F360*pi%2A12%5E2

A = 150.8 sq/cm, this is surface area of the cone

:

Surface area (SA) of a cone without the end formula

The slant length (s) = the radius of the paper; 12 cm

pi%2Ar%2As+=+SA

pi%2Ar%2A12+=+150.8 , find r, the radius of the cone

r = 150.8%2F%2812%2Api%29

r = 4 cm is the radius

find the height of the cone

h = sqrt%28s%5E2-r%5E2%29

h = sqrt%2812%5E2-4%5E2%29

h = 11.3 cm is the height of the cone

Find the capacity (volume)

V+=+1%2F3*+pi%2Ar%5E2%2Ah

V = 1%2F3*pi%2A4%5E2%2A11.3

V = 189.33 cu/cm
