Why did it become difficult for people to pursue the American Dream during the economic depression

It was because not very many people had much money and things cost money. It was also difficult because of the racism that was involved during the time period.

 But it was hard because not everyone had jobs and not everyone could afford a lot o pursue their dreams therefore it made it "impossible". :)
