When Macbeth first meets the witches, he doesn't think much of what they've said until he is given the title of Thane of Cawdor which was the witches' second prophecy. This encourages his ambition, and is already contemplating murder to get to the throne, but he can't force himself to do the deed himself, and is therefore encouraged by his wife.In the second set of prophecies Macbeth believes that he has nothing to worry about. The first apparition told him to beware Macduff, but the next two apparitions make him feel as if he does not <span>need to worry.</span>

Mama L [17]

Answer:

Two words using the root -gest- are gesture and digestion. The original meaning of the root as inherited from Lating was "carry" or "perform". In modern English, however, the word has a separate meaning of "a tale of adventures" or "a romance in verse" (according to the Merriam-Webster dictionary).

Explanation:

Here is a sentence with the word "gesture".

<u>Peter's gift was a very kind gesture.</u>

As for the connection of the word "gesture" with its root: the gift actually "carries" kindness or "performs" an act of kindness.

12345 [234]

From Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales excerpt that contradicts the claim made in the third line that the prioress speaks fluent French is "For French of Paris was not hers to know."

In the General prologue, Chaucer satirizes several characters from various classes and professions. Beginning with the highest class to lower. The first character whom Chaucer introduces is the Prioress who is a nun. She is the first among the female to be described, the first question that evokes in the reader's mind is that such higher religious clergy doesn't take a vow of leading a simple life? Hence, Chaucer satirizes the church, as the members of the church belonged from the upper class. The prioress took advantage from the poor for her own good. She was very well '<em>dainty</em>' and was well-dressed. Being known as <em>"Madame Eglantyne"</em>, she was so pretentious that she hardly knew any words of French.
